EDIB in Action: Beyond the Plan

By: Mimi Mahmud, Equity Strategist

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) are not confined to a single strategic priority at EAFWR – they shape how we work, learn, and relate to one another every day.

Advisory & Support – Supporting teams through complex, real-time equity questions

Tools & Infrastructure – Policy review, data collection, inclusive language resources

Culture & Learning – Training, reflection, Days of Significance

Sector Leadership – Sharing learning regionally and provincially

Together, this work strengthens relationships, reduces harm, and supports an organizational culture where people feel valued, respected, and able to contribute fully. It reflects a long-held belief at EAFWR: belonging is built intentionally, through systems, relationships, and everyday practice.

EDIB LEARNING AND REACH:

  • Cultural Intelligence – all full-time staff
  • Identity-Based Harm Reduction – 20 staff from 2 programs
  • Brave Conversations – 15 Program Managers and Directors
  • 100% of SSAH, Passport, and FamilyHome/SIL teams trained in demographic data collection
