Community Development

At the heart of Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region, community development builds relationships and belonging. By hosting events, partnering with like-minded organizations, and committing to growth within our neighbourhoods, we strive to build strong communities.

Community is what makes us different. We feel everyone has a rightful place at the table, and should be given the opportunity to shine. Our events, initiatives and partnerships offer you the chance to be your best self, to show your gifts and talents to the world.

Check out how we are building better communities through hosting events that harmoniously join the families we support and the community, and by working deeper with partners to connect neighbourhoods with the resources needed to support their residents.

Caregiver Connection Group:

A space to enjoy refreshments and meet with a small group of other caregivers, share experiences and connect in a supportive environment. Facilitated by Extend-A-Family Staff, with guest speakers and activities planned at the request of the group.

This group is for:

  • Caregivers and
  • their child 0-6,
  • who have applied for but not received Special Services at Home funding.

Free childminding will be available in the room next to the adults. Trained staff and volunteers will lead a small group of little ones in fun, safe, social activities, adapted to meet the needs of the children.
