July 2026 Days of Significance

Dear EAFWR Community,

For the month of July, we invite you to join us as we recognize Disability Pride Month.

Disability Pride Month

Every July, Disability Pride Month celebrates the identities, culture, and contributions of people who experience disability. It’s a time to challenge ableism, honour the diversity of disability experiences, and reflect on what pride, visibility, and inclusion mean in our communities and workplaces.

While the month originated in the U.S. in 1990, marking the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Canada continues to embrace this celebration in growing and meaningful ways. In 2023, Ontario passed Bill 128, officially recognizing Disability Pride Month province-wide.

As we reflect on Disability Pride Month, it’s important to recognize the diversity of perspectives while continuing to challenge the barriers, stereotypes, and systems that impact people with disabilities, especially those navigating multiple, intersecting identities.
