Employable Skills Development Program
Are you looking for a job and in need of support? We’re excited to share our new pre-employment skills program, the Employable Skills Development Program!
Over the course of 14 weeks, you will gain skills and knowledge through in-class and on the job experience, leaving you equipped to continue your job search.
How It Works:
Class Learning – 14 Weeks
Weekly classroom sessions about a range of employment topics, including:
- resume writing
- work-life balance
- preparing for interviews
- job searching
- managing conflict
- asking for workplace accommodations
- and more!
Volunteer Work Placement – 10 weeks
Includes 10 weeks of volunteer work placement (Week 4 onwards). The work placement is 4 hours of work per week, with support and coaching from the Employable Skills Development Coordinator.
This Program is for:
- People aged 16+ who are not currently employed and seeking employment
- Geared towards people with developmental disabilities and open to all

Are you an employer in Waterloo Region? We have an exciting opportunity for you to become a Work Placement Partner as part of our new Employable Skills Development Program (EDSP).
About Work Placements
Part of the EDSP Program includes a 10-week volunteer work placement to gain hands-one experience. We will work with participants to find workplaces that best match their skills and interests. They will be supported by the Employable Skills Development Coordinator. Class learning will happen in tandem with the work placement.

Types of Work Placements
We are looking to grow our bank of workplaces. Examples of workplaces include libraries, community centres, restaurants, museums, grocery stores, movie theatres and more!
