New Partnership with The Working Centre – Creating Job Support and Opportunities

Extend-A-Family of Waterloo Region is receiving funding from Ontario to promote inclusive employment and improve services and supports for people with developmental disabilities. EAFWR will be partnering with The Working Centre on this new initiative. Through the Developmental Services Employment and Modernization Fundthe province is investing in the following project:

Community Based Employment Supports: Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region will partner with local employment agency, The Working Centre, so that individuals with developmental disabilities can access employment training in an integrated community setting. This project will also promote the sharing of expertise and best practices between the two organizations, resulting in better linkages between developmental services and employment services, and more opportunities to expand employer networks in the community.

We were thrilled to welcome Daiene Vernile, Kitchener Centre MPP, to the EAFWR office on February 20th to present this funding. Both EAFWR Executive Director Maria De Boer as well as Dave Thomas from The Working Centre expressed their excitement for the funding and the positive impact it will create in our community.

For more details, you can review the press release below. Stay tuned for future updates on this exciting project!
