Hockey Helps the Homeless 2026
Three members of the team at Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region have joined the Victorious Secrets hockey team competing in the Hockey Helps the Homeless tournament at RIM Park.
All funds raised at the tournament on October 30, 2026, are granted to six local beneficiaries: oneROOF Youth Services, House of Friendship, YW Kitchener-Waterloo, Starling Community Services, Cambridge Shelter Corporation, and The Working Centre.
Asked why she’s participating, Meagan Byrne said, “Working at Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region, we work alongside the agencies that will benefit from the funds raised from this tournament. This is my second year participating, and I’m proud to be part of a team that cares about making a difference.”
Jill Swanton added, “I am happy to participate in the Hockey Helps Tournament for the second time. It is a great event for a great cause. Over the years, I have worked with the agencies supported by this tournament and have seen the wonderful work they do. It’s a great feeling to be able to support these much-needed supports in our community.”
“We serve the local community alongside our friends and colleagues who will receive funds from the tournament. Hopefully our participation & fundraising efforts can provide them with some encouragement. Our community is stronger and more inclusive because of the work of these vital organizations,” said Al Mills.
