Hockey Helps the Homeless 2025
Three members of the team at Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region have joined the Victorious Secrets hockey team competing in the Hockey Helps the Homeless tournament at RIM Park.
All funds raised at the tournament on October 24, 2025, are granted to six local beneficiaries: oneROOF Youth Services, House of Friendship, YW Kitchener-Waterloo, Starling Community Services, Cambridge Shelter Corporation, and The Working Centre.
Asked why she’s participating, Meagan Byrne said, “Working at Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region, we work alongside these agencies that will benefit from these funds. I am happy to be a part of an event that will support them!”
Jill Swanton added, “Through the years I have worked with people who have disabilities and have experienced homelessness. It is heartbreaking to see our most vulnerable not having access to housing. In a world where so many have more than they need, everyone should have access to their basic needs. ”
“This is my third tournament with the Victorious Secrets. It’s great to be able to play a game we love and do it for an important cause. Hopefully our participation can provide some encouragement to our friends and colleagues in the important work they’re doing in support of safe and secure housing for all,” said Al Mills.
