Terms of Use and Online Donation Policy

Donors to Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region have the right to:

  1. be informed of EAFWR’s mission,
  2. ask questions about how EAFWR will use their donation, and the effectiveness of their donation towards the organization’s work, and receive any requested printed material in regards to EAFWR,
  3. request that their donation be used for specific purposes, and have that request honored by the organization,
  4. be provided with the names of all members of EAFWR’s board of directors and expect that the board of directors will use sound judgment related to the organization’s resources,
  5. request and receive access to EAFWR’s audited financial statements,
  6. receive acknowledgment of their gift in a way that reflects their wishes. This includes the right to not have a gift publicly acknowledged,
  7. have their information collected and stored securely, and their confidentiality maintained to the extent provided by the law. EAFWR does not share, sell, trade or rent the contact information of their donors. All physical donor information (i.e. event pledge sheets) are maintained in locked cabinets, and all digital donor information is stored within an encrypted, password protected system. Donor contact information is only accessible to the Opportunities Development Coordinator and appropriate finance staff,
  8. be treated professionally and with respect in all interactions with EAFWR staff, volunteers and EAFWR contracted third parties,
  9. be provided with the name and status (volunteer, paid staff, or contracted fundraiser) of the EAFWR representative soliciting the donation, upon request. EAFWR staff do not receive nor pay any payment incentives related to donations received, directly or indirectly,
  10. determine the extent of their relationship with EAFWR. Donors may specify their preferred method and frequency of communication with the organization, or choose to opt-out of further communication at any time,
  11. ask questions which are answered promptly and completely,
  12. be treated with fairness, integrity and in accordance with all applicable laws. EAFWR have confirmed that anyone fundraising for them does not have any actual or apparent conflict of interest or loyalty,
  13. know that all donations accepted by EAFWR are for the purposes that are consistent with EAFWR’s mission, vision and values.
  • A tax receipt will be issued for all donations over $20. Please keep in mind donations cannot be refunded.

We use the information we collect from you to process donations and to improve and personalize your experience on our site. Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region is aware of its responsibilities under the federal Personal Information and Electronics Documents Act (PIPEDA).
