2017 Ball Hockey Tournament

Time Commitment: 9am-5pm on June 10, 2017

Are you looking for something fun to do on June 10 – Neighbours Day? Look no further!

Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region is hosting their 4th Annual Community Ball Hockey Tournament from 10am-4pm at the Stanley Park Community Centre. A variety of roles are available, and we would love for you to join us in a role that best suits you!

Volunteer Gardener

Time Commitment: May through September, a couple of hours a week

Passionate about beautiful gardens? Want to help keep the Mount Hope neighbourhood green?

Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region is looking for a neighbour to become a volunteer gardener. This volunteer role includes helping with garden clean up in early May as well as winterizing in late September (larger time commitments), and once a week grooming and watering. The ideal volunteer would be local to Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region and could visit the gardens during business hours.

Volunteer Drivers

Time Commitment: TBD

We are looking for a volunteer driver to drive and join someone at a knitting group, and/or to drive and join someone learning to dance. Volunteer drivers can enhance the lives of others by providing opportunities for people to attend functions or appointments that they may otherwise miss. Volunteer drivers must be dependable, prompt and ensure the safety and well-being of the individuals while driving. Valid G class license required. Volunteers must be comfortable supporting individuals with different abilities. Email Michelle at mscala@eafwr.on.ca for further details.

Count Me In! March

Time Commitment: 12pm – 9pm on June 8th, 2017

Believe in a community where everyone belongs? Love chatting about inclusion and belonging?

Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region is looking for volunteers to help setup, take-down, greet, and create a great atmosphere at this year’s Count Me In! March. Specific volunteer roles to be determined but volunteers must be available for up to 9 hours on June 8th, 2017, at 91 Moore Avenue Kitchener and Kitchener City Hall. Volunteers will also be asked to attend an orientation in the weeks leading up to the event.

Summer Program: Peer Vacationers

Time Commitment: August

Vacation alongside someone for one week at camp.

Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region hosts week-long overnight camps at Camp Impeesa each August. With two different week-long camps, peer vacationers are needed for both camp experiences.

Volunteer Application and Screening Process

  1. To apply online please click here.
  2. To apply in person please bring to our office your cover letter, resume and a filled out copy of the following  volunteer application/availability form
  3. If selected for an interview your will receive a call from the Recruitment and Volunteer Coordinator
  4. Upon a successful interview, you will be invited to attend a Volunteer activation meeting. This meeting will be your orientation to Extend-A-Family. It is also the opportunity to show your dedication by submitting all required screening documents.
  5. You will be considered a hired and active volunteer, only after you have complied with all of the above steps and Volunteer Screening Requirements
