Full Time FamilyHome Opportunity

A young man in his early 20's is looking for a family, or individual, to live with through the FamilyHome Program.  He would prefer someone who is spontaneous, energetic and who likes to go out and do things together (movies, mall, beach, etc.). He is independent and navigates the region via the bus system and enjoys freedom to be out of the house with friends when he chooses. He would welcome support with finances, planning for employment, developing more social contacts and regular activities in the community, and learning independent living skills (i.e. budgeting, managing finances, cooking, cleaning, etc.).  His interests are in drawing, tattooing, shopping, anime, dancing, playing with animals and watching movies.

This living arrangement would be supported by Extend-A-Family's FamilyHome Program which provides coordination, training, ongoing support and remuneration.

If you are interested in finding out more about this opportunity and the FamilyHome Program, please contact: Terral McBay, FamilyHome Coordinator, 519-741-0190 Ext. 235 or terral@eafwr.on.ca.

Part-Time FamilyHome Opportunity

"Are you interested in welcoming someone with a developmental disability to live with you part-time and share your home?  To be involved in helping an individual achieve their personal goals and be a valued member of their community?"

A young woman in her early 30's wishes to spend time between her present home and living with another family. Ideally she would like to alternate weekly, spending one week in her current living situation, and the other with a FamilyHome Provider. The new "family" might be a couple, a single person, a supportive room-mate, or women sharing together, and she would prefer a home without young children, teens, dogs or birds. She would like to be with someone who is near her own age. She has lived on her own previously and so likes some independence (a joined basement apartment might be one possibility). However, she also prefers the security of having someone around whom she can rely upon. She would like to remain in Kitchener-Waterloo near to a bus route.  She attends a long-term volunteer placement twice a week and may be interested in more work opportunities in the future.

This living situation would be supported by Extend-A-Family's FamilyHome Program, which provides coordination, training, ongoing support and remuneration.

If you are interested in finding out more about this opportunity and the FamilyHome Program please contact: Michelle Boismier, FamilyHome Coordinator, 519-741-0190 Ext. 249 or michelleb@eafwr.on.ca.
