Personal Support Orientation
Personal Support Orientation
This is an informal session that combines the presentation of material with group discussion and experiential activities. The group will explore power in relationships with individuals who have special needs and focus on our practices of care and how we enter into relationships with the individuals we are supporting; the foundation being respect. The session also looks at specific areas of personal care support including: accompaniment at the table, at bath time, and in the washroom. As well, information is shared regarding medication administration and supporting individuals who are more medically fragile. The goal of the session is to create a heightened awareness around how we can be most respectful and present to the individuals we support.
All Personal Support Orientation sessions will be held in Kitchener at the Extend-A-Family head office located at 91 Moore Ave.
